Augmented Reality Agents
By combining AI control systems with visual representations in a physical space, Embodied Augmented Reality Agents (EARAs) provide an ideal platform for testing situated AI models. Specifically, we utilize a novel paradigm where users explore an AR museum-like exhibition space where a humanoid EARA delivers auditory information complementary to a visual display. The goal is to investigate the effect of embodied representation on memory retention by comparing the EARA with a control condition using an isolated auditory explanation. Through the development of a humanoid EARA capable of large-scale spatial behavior and believable interaction, this research offers a new framework for developing and testing embodied and situated AI systems within real-world social interactions.
